FAIL PROOF VANILLA CAKE POP DOUGH
See Reel Here
Ingredients:
- 1 box Dolly Parton Vanilla Cake Mix (or similar white/yellow cake mix)
- 3 - 4 eggs depending on boxed cake mix recommendation.
- 1 (8 oz) cup sour cream
- The Jell-O pudding mix helps make the dough smoother and less prone to cracking. It’s not required, but it can be helpful. Just be careful not to use too much — excess pudding mix can make the cake a bit springy or play-dough-like. It still tastes great, but the texture may not be everyone’s preference, so feel free to adjust the amount to suit your taste.
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
- Pre-cut parchment paper sheets (optional but handy)
- Foil
- 9x13" pan
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F.
-
Line a 9" × 13" baking pan with parchment paper (do not use wax paper).
-
Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix until smooth.
-
Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
-
Bake about 10 minutes longer than the box directions suggest. The pudding mix makes the cake denser.
-
Cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking if the top begins to brown.
-
Do not overbake. If using a cake thermometer, remove the cake when the center reaches 210°F.
-
Remove from oven and cover with foil or a dish towel. Let cool for 10 minutes.
-
While the cake is still warm and moist, crumble it back into your mixer and blend until it forms a dough.
-
The dough may feel slightly sticky at first but will firm into a play-dough consistency as it cools.
For the smoothest dough:
• Scrape off the very top layer of cake
• Remove any firm edges
-
Wrap dough in parchment paper and place inside a zip-top bag or airtight container.
Storage:
• Refrigerate overnight, or
• Freeze for later use.
Notes:
* If you are located outside of the USA, any instant pudding or custard mix should work in place of instant Jell-O pudding mix
