How to Use Pop Up Messages

Unlike a traditional embosser that presses lettering into your design, Pop Up Messages create lettering that pops up—perfect for decorating cake pops, cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and more.

What You’ll Need

  • Your Pop Up Message

  • Fondant or another compatible decorating paste

  • A plastic rolling pin

  • A scraper

  • A cutter to finish your design

Single-Colour Instructions

  1. Roll your fondant. Roll out a small amount of fondant and place it over the engraved side of your Pop Up Message.

  2. Press firmly. Use a plastic rolling pin to press the fondant into the lettering, rolling across the entire design.

  3. Release gently. Carefully peel the fondant away from the acrylic, rotating as needed to release the raised lettering.

  4. Cut and decorate. Trim or cut your message to fit your project.

Two-Colour Instructions

Use one colour for the raised lettering and a second colour for the background.

  1. Fill the lettering. Press your first colour of fondant firmly into the engraved lettering.

  2. Remove the excess. Scrape the acrylic surface clean, leaving fondant only inside the lettering. If needed, gently wipe the surface with a slightly damp paper towel.

  3. Let it set. Allow the first colour to dry for 10–15 minutes.

  4. Add your background. Roll out your second colour of fondant and place it over the filled design.

  5. Roll firmly. Roll over the fondant to press the background against the filled lettering so the two colours join.

  6. Reveal your message. Gently peel the fondant away from the acrylic, rotating as needed. Cut to your desired shape and decorate!

Tips for a Beautiful Finish

  • Make sure every letter is filled before releasing your design.

  • For crisp two-colour lettering, remove any stray fondant from the acrylic surface before adding your background.

  • Peel slowly and gently to help preserve the raised details.
